Travel Log #2 - Day 1

Sam and I left my friend Paul Hudson's house in San Diego this morning and entered Baja , Mexico via Tijuana . We paid a little over $100 for Mexican Auto Insurance (always get insurance, I'll explain why later) for a period of 20 days. We also paid $30 for a vehicle entry permit and $20 each for tourist cards.

Yesterday we paid about $800, on tune ups, parts, etc... Actually more than a grand when you factor in fixing the clutch as well. This paltry sum is nowhere what I paid to maintain the truck over the past 3 years of ownership. Whatever, at least we are finally off!!! The drug dealer chick Erica who we had intended to be our filmer pulled out last minute fortunately. Although it sucks we're out a filmer, it is definitely for the best. She was delusional...

Travel Log #1: Hitting the Road

Initially we started off in Los Angeles where I spent about a month staying with friends after graduating from U.C. Santa Cruz . I wish I could look back and say "yep, as soon as I finished my last class at U.C Santa Cruz I hopped in my truck and drove to South America." Truth be told though, I didn't. It isn't easy to get everything you need together to undertake such a protracted road trip. It takes A LOT of planning, and just when you feel you have everything ready, fixed and accounted for some unforeseen problem presents itself causing you to have to wait even longer. Throw in a couple of travel partners (I did) and things only get more complicated....

Officially Online!

At long last, long after the wheels actually fell off, my life changing road trip to South America is finally getting to see the light of day. Countless hurdles have been hopped, a lot of frustration has been overcome and a lot more is just beginning, nevertheless this is the emerging fruit of my labor.

Although Until The Wheels Fall Off is far from finished, I kinda like it that way because I am getting to relive the journey with each freshly edited webisodio, yeah I said it, webisodio! There are tons more where this initial season came from too, so not to worry, just sit back, relax and psych on the road ahead cause it's a long one...
